Dive, slide, and deflect fast penalty kicks in this interactive 2012 Olympic goalkeeper challenge!
Google Doodle Football is a premier browser-based sports goalkeeper game created to celebrate the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The player controls a goalkeeper standing in front of a wide soccer net, defending against rapid penalty shots fired by an AI striker.
Our testing specialists evaluated the hitbox physics and glove positioning. The core game requires you to move horizontally using the Arrow keys and jump or dive using the Spacebar. As you successfully save consecutive shots, the AI striker starts kicking the ball with swerves, chips, and extreme power, testing your spatial reactions and finger speed.
Use the Left and Right Arrow keys or slide your finger on mobile to shift your goalkeeper laterally. Keep your character centered relative to the ball.
Press the Up Arrow or Spacebar to leap or dive for high corner shots. Timing is critical: diving too early leaves the goal wide open.
You are allowed up to three missed goals (represented by soccer ball symbols). Once the striker scores three times against you, the game terminates.
The goalkeeper's hand gloves have a slightly wider deflection hitbox than the body. Stand just slightly off-center to deflect wide shots cleanly.
High lob shots can confuse your depth perception. Pay close attention to the spherical shadow on the grass to locate the exact landing point.
The striker will introduce curved spin shots at higher scores. Stand firm and wait for the ball to leave the foot before moving to prevent getting caught out by swerves.

No, once a ball gets past you and hits the net, a life is deducted. There are no power-ups or mechanics to restore lives, making consistency critical.
